Assistant Manager, Strategy & Business Development
Job DescriptionRoles & Responsibilities:
Lead and/or support the development of organic and inorganic growth investment proposals for SDGI and support the project through the investment appraisal and approval process, e.g., Group Investment Committee, Risk Management Committee SDGI Board, or SDG Board.
Manage and support activities required for the investment appraisal process, e.g., advisory, financial, tax, legal due diligence, and support any post-approval transaction processes, e.g., disclosures.
Monitor execution of approved CAPEX expansion projects through post-commissioning to ensure projects are delivering as required, identify upcoming risks, and highlight to Senior Management accordingly.
Manage and support the Strategic Planning process for SDGI, including the development of the SDGI Strategy Blueprint, SDGI Management and Board Strategy Workshops, and development and tracking of strategic initiatives.
Manage and coordinate relevant stakeholders in SDGI's Strategy Business Development projects and assess these projects' strategic and economic feasibility promptly.
Business Development
Lead and manage project team to assess business investment opportunities (including business review, project expansion, turnaround opportunities), in relation to SDGI's Strategy Blueprint or M&A investment themes.
Support Heads in discussions with prospective SDGI partners, including background analyses, internal investment theses, and preliminary due diligence.
Support deal origination process for SDGI, including conducting desktop analyses and working with investment banks or strategy consultants to generate or evaluate potential leads.
Strategic Planning
Support the development of SDGI's business strategies and long-term plans, e.g., SDGI's Strategy Blueprint, by managing Analyst(s) in conducting market research and financial analyses.
Lead Analyst(s) in evaluating or reviewing strategies and transformation initiatives for SDGI proposed by its Business Units or JV partners.
Lead and/or manage the tracking of approved investment projects to ensure completion within timeline and budget and ensure targeted synergies are achieved.
Provide support to the Head, Strategy and Business Development, Head, Global Strategy and Transformation, and CEO, SDGI in corporate assignments.
Ideal Candidate:
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in business/finance/economics/engineering; MBA or CFA holders would be at an advantage.
At least 5 years' experience in Strategy, Business Development or Corporate Finance roles, preferably in Management Consulting, External Advisory or Internal Consulting roles.
Relevant technical skills that include corporate finance, strategic business planning, analytical thinking, attention to detail, industry knowledge & application, communication and business writing.
Demonstrates leadership skills that drive change & performance.
Experienced in stakeholder management and shows effective task prioritization and project management.
Emotionally intelligent and understands how to leverage talents with good negotiation skills.
