Chemistry Section Leader

What will you be doing? - As a Chemistry Section Leader, you will provide a wide range of scientific and analytical expertise in the day to day operation of the laboratory; including daily supervision of staff, allocation of duties, appraisal of performance and direct participation in meeting standards and objectives for the section.

- The Chemistry Section Leader will be responsible for advising and communicating with internal and external customers, interpreting and explaining results and answering customer queries.

- You will check the quality and timeliness of the work of the whole team against set standards and service levels.

- You will also diagnose problems with systems and equipment, calibrating equipment and solving problems in order to seek ways to improve efficiency and adapt equipment to changing applications.

- Participation in Standby Rota will be required for this role.

What do you need?

- Relevant degree/equivalent with significant experience in analytical services and a practical in-depth knowledge of the methods and science employed within the section.

- Experience of supervision of a team.

- Knowledge of UKAS quality systems.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload for self and team.

- Proven Track Record of working to deadlines.

- Able to adapt to and implement change.
