Job Description
ABOUT YOUR ROLE: You will ensure compliance with regulatory and Company requirements. You will identify and anticipate safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions. You will render opinions on new equipment and procedures, investigate violations and recommend preventive programs. You will guide and promote safe work performance by developing safety systems, policies and procedures, safety campaigns, communications and recognition.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Responsible for reporting of EHS activities within the various geographic regions, to the regional leadership teams.
- Advise & Report Senior management and others as appropriate on major EHS events/incidents and budget/resource priorities.
- Develops and implements programs and practices to ensure that the organization is in compliance with laws, regulations and standards concerning the EHS of the workforce, the environment and surrounding community.
- Plans, coordinates and manages related engineering, scientific and technical activities, such as sampling, testing and measuring air, soil and water. Oversees the analysis of collected data and implementation of programs to abate, control or eliminate environmental pollutants.
- Participate in the implementation and sustainability of EHS programs.
- Serve as primary point of contact and resource for regional environmental, health & safety issues.
- Manage audits and inspections of company facilities and recommend required corrective action to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
- Assesses local and regional EHS regulations and compliance requirements and with oversight of the Business Unit EHS Director implements programs and systems to ensure compliance at the facilities located within a geographical region.
- Spearhead incident investigations to identify effective corrective measures and track the implementation of such measures.
- Facilitate communication between facilities across the company regarding common problems and best practices.
- Provide tactical direction and standardization to sites regarding EHS programs and initiatives.
- Develop and implement an annual training calendar including both courses required by law or customers and supplemental topics pertinent to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Responsible for the implementation of the EHS management system.
- Support facilities in implementing and sustaining EHS procedures by ensuring resources, tools and knowledge are available
- Participate in the acquisition, relocation, modification, closure and decommissioning of any affected facility, equipment or process.
- Partner with other EHS Managers and Operations on budgets, business strategy and establishing and meeting EHS performance metrics and goals.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical, Environmental Engineering / Science or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of EHS experience with progressive work assignments. Advanced professional EHS certification desired.
- Hands on experience and floor execution on Engineering prospective related to EHS .
- Strong leadership, managerial, training, and mentoring skills.
- Industrial safety and occupational EHS within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on Environmental leadership preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of regional or geographical regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures and programs.
- Experience in life safety codes: EHS rules, HAZOP, training, principles of occupational safety and health, and Industrial hygiene.
- Strong Project/Problem Resolution skills.

- Strong coaching, facilitating and training skills.
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
