We are seeking an eager, motivated Forest Ranger responsible for setting the boundary of forest harvesting based on the approved terrains by the local authority, submission of periodic Forestry Management Plan, and ensuring forest harvesting complies with the Company's standard safety procedures and rules and regulations of the Forestry Department.
The ideal candidate will be open to learning new things, not afraid to take chances, and interested in learning every aspect of running this company based in Gabon, Africa (2 years Contract).Job Description:To perform clear boundary marking for log harvesting activities as per the approved terrains by the local authority.
Responsible for providing accurate periodic inventory reports and migrating information from GPS for mapping and monitoring purposes.
To conduct surveys on each block prior to the commencement of logging activities.
To identify the most ideal path for logs to be transported from the forest to the stumping.
To conduct re-surveys on each block after the commencement of logging activities and perform inspections (hammer mark on stumps and on the trees before skidding of logs, no undersized logs, etc.).
Responsible for managing and supervising the Forest Management Team (tagging team, office team, logging control, post logging, illegal activities, and fauna, external social).Requirements:Diploma or Bachelor's degree in any field.
Preferably with more than 5 years of working experience in logging operations.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Knowledge of GPS, Compass, and Clinometer.
Management skills.
Able to travel to Gabon for a 2 years contract.
