Objectives of the Position Be an integral part in shaping the pioneering, agile and exciting Asia Pacific Communications Services team at the BASF Shared Services Centre Kuala Lumpur (henceforth referred to as ‘Hub) Manage internal and external communications activities for Greater China, whilst being part of the team at the Hub Ensure precise and consistent rollout of communication activities across communications channels (internal and external) Main Tasks Engage and work with stakeholders in Greater China to support their communications needs from the Hub in Kuala Lumpur. Responsible for various communication services including content creation for several channels such as the BASF Greater China Annual Reports and local e-publications, in line with global releases Translation and localization of global and regional news releases, magazine publication, website content as well as videos in consultation with local counterparts; this entails proofreading and copy editing Champion the sustainability topic in China; whether by interpreting global sustainability directives for the local market, providing intelligence on local initiatives/legislature/ and providing counsel to drive this narrative further for BASF in China Where needed, this role may need to support on-ground events (planning and content), crisis management and leadership positioning exercises for the Greater China market; this would mainly be in terms of providing consultancy and editorial support Active collaboration with the team of colleagues providing other specialist services at the Hub (digital, event planning and designing) in order to better fulfill stakeholder requirements Possessing significant knowledge on the Greater China market but also eager to: Upskill and learn about latest trends in communications services Establish exceptional consultative skills that efficiently bond BASF’s global direction with local market dynamics Requirements Education: University degree or above in mass communication or related fields. Working Experience: Significant demonstrated success in internal and external communications in a multicultural corporate or agency environment. Generalist communicators will be preferred with a minimum experience of 10 years Some experience living or working in China will be an added advantage Ability to work with various stakeholders and create good relationships Actively contribute to a collaborative climate Technical & Professional Knowledge: Strong command of simplified Chinese (Mandarin) in written and spoken form as well as a good command of English language Strong content development acumen with capacity for creativity and a close attention to detail Editorial experience (with both traditional and online publications) would be a plus General understanding of the Chinese market and media landscape would be advantageous, along with some knowledge of regional geopolitical landscapes Excellent working knowledge of basic computer programs (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CMS) We look forward to you sharing your expertise with us!
