Posted Job Title Neuroimaging Research Coordinator B Job Profile Title Clinical Research Coordinator B Job Description Summary Neuroimaging Research Coordinator B As part of the Neurodevelopment and Psychosis Section in the Department of Psychiatry, The Brain Behavior Lab (BBL) at Penn Medicine and the Lifespan Brain Institute (LiBI) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Penn Medicine are devoted to the study of brain and behavior using innovative neuroimaging (e.g. EEG, MRI, MRS) research techniques and the application of bioinformatics resources. LiBI brings together researchers in medicine, psychiatry, engineering, computer science, physics and biostatistics to understand brain structure and function, based on functional and structural neuroimaging data. This position's primary function is to facilitate, promote, and ensure good clinical practice in the conduct of the Psychosis Risk Outcomes Network (ProNET) study at the UPenn site. Independently manages different phases of complex research protocols and mentors Coordinators and Research Assistants. Works with partnering institutions to institute multi-center research protocols. Participates in study team meetings, site group meetings, and ongoing protocol training/compliance meetings. Adheres to all University and other regulatory guidelines. Since its founding in 1765 the School has been a strong presence in the community and prides itself on educating the leaders of tomorrow in patient care, biomedical research, and medical education. http://www.med.upenn.edu/ We are seeking a full-time Neuroimaging Research Coordinator to join our team for a large scale international multi-site investigation of biomarkers in youth at clinical high risk of psychosis. This position offers a highly interdisciplinary research experience, combining approaches from cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, and psychiatry. Under the close supervision of Dr. David R. Roalf, the individual will be responsible for conducting informed consent/assent process, recruiting and preparing participants for study-related research visits, which include the collection of behavioral data, biospecimens (e.g., blood, saliva), brain MRIs and EEG. In addition, the individual will be responsible for maintaining all study related records and working closely with Dr. Roalf, the study Principal Investigators (Drs. Monica Calkins and Daniel Wolf), other study investigators, and clinical coordinators on coordination and administration of research procedures. Other duties include maintaining accurate, complete and timely records, including source documents, consent forms, protocol documents, and regulatory documents, as required by the IRB. S/he will also work on uploading data in relevant databases and accurately maintaining project databases and other participant related information. The candidate will work closely with the study team and collaborating sites to identify problems and develop solutions. There may be opportunities for independent research projects, if desired. Duties: Recruit and enroll research subjects Obtain consent from research subjects Schedule/coordinate/data entry into RedCap: behavioral questionnaires, clinical and cognitive scores Develop research materials (e.g., develop questionnaires in RedCap, design/post recruitment flyers, etc) Schedule, coordinate, and collect research biospecimens, MRIs and EEGs Collect behavioral and questionnaire data Coordinate subject reimbursement for parking and compensation for participation in study. Organize and conduct quality-control assessment of study data Track and transfer study data and biospecimens to central repositories Assist with IRB applications/renewals and reporting of adverse events Assist with progress reports and manuscript preparation Maintain all credentialing for Human Subject Research Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required Experience in compliance/regulatory affairs with attention to detail Strong organizational, communication and computer skills Strong self-motivation to multi-task and quickly shift from one project to another depending on priority Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and confident and comfortable to work and talk with research subjects, including children and parents. Availability for flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends Preferred Skills: 2-4 year’s experience conducting human subjects research, preferably with clinical populations especially psychiatric and/or adolescent populations Experience collecting MRI and/or EEG data in a research-oriented facility Strong computer and technical skills Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Background check is required. Must pass Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Act (also known as Act 73) background checks, within 30-90 days of employment. Position contingent on funding.
