The Role Responsibilities
Implement the Group Compliance Review strategies and agenda.
Formulate a relevant and inclusive Country Compliance Review schedule on an annual basis - to provide 2 nd line of defence oversight of the businesses and to meet and discharge the Shariah Compliance Review function assurance obligations and responsibilities.
Deliver the planned Shariah Compliance Reviews effectively and timely
Execute the Shariah Compliance Reviews - such as issuance of term of reference, conducting of fieldwork, and drafting of findings and reports.
Ensure that significant issues identified during the course of reviews are properly escalated - "no surprises"; all identified issues are duly tracked, monitored and remediated timely.
Provide periodic Compliance Review progress summary (i.e. issues highlights and trends, issues require management attention and discussion, etc.), to the relevant Governance Committee(s) in the region/countries accordingly - to ensure sufficient level of regional/country management team involvement.
Assist the SCR Manager to adequately support the country
Carry out periodic and ad-hoc samples testing, investigation and validation as necessary
Responsible in executing Shariah Compliance Review functions to allow SCSB to be managed in a Shariah compliant manner.

Responsible to review all process documents involving SCSB products and services to ensure it is in compliance with Shariah

Responsible to upgrade the knowledge, skills and capabilities needed as Shariah Compliance Reviewer to deliver the role effectively.
Risk Management
Responsible for ensuring that the appropriate review is done for SCSB products and services.
Responsible for organizing the appropriate team members to conduct the Shariah Compliance Review.
Responsible to prepare and finalize Shariah Compliance Review report to present to SC
Responsible to highlight high risk Shariah Compliance Review findings to SC when conducting Shariah Compliance Review.
Conduct assessment and provide classification on potential Shariah non-compliance events and present to SC for further deliberation.
Conduct assessment on day-to-day ad-hoc review issue and any Non Potential Shariah Non-Compliance events to be presented to SC for a notation.
Monitor and track open items arising from Shariah Compliance review exercises to ensure timely closure.
Governance
Understand the requirement of the Shariah Governance Policy Document with the respect to the Shariah Compliance Review function.
Responsible to finalise all root cause analysis, control failure points and analysis of new samples arising from agreed management actions during Shariah Compliance Review exercises.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate
Candidate should preferably have the specific degree in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh) and AICB Certificate in Regulatory Compliance. Other relevant certifications like CIAFIN, AICB Certificate in Internal Audit and Certified Internal Auditor would be a plus.
