About the role

We seek highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as a Principal, Entity Reduction.
Accounting & Reporting (A&R) is undertaking an Entity Reduction Project (ERP) to liquidate/deregister BHP Group dormant entities across approximately 25 different countries. There are a number of entities to be managed that are already within the liquidation process and a number to be liquidated (over 50 currently expected with more entities to be added as they become dormant over time).
- Responsible for leading the project and coordinating due diligence on the entities to determine that there are no adverse consequences of liquidation. This includes remediation of any impediments to liquidation (e.g. resolution of tax/legal matters, employees, termination of contracts). Seek formal approval to liquidate the entities by way of memo which outlines the due diligence findings. Engage a local liquidator and then oversee the liquidation process until completion.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the ERP Specialist.
- Oversee and or/participate in other governance activities supporting Accounting & Reporting.

Core Accountabilities
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Ensure alignment with and compliance to relevant Our Requirements.
- Prepare monthly reporting to A&R Leadership Team (key stakeholder).
- Coordinate due diligence on each entity to ensure there are no adverse implications of liquidating the entity. This involves liaising with Tax, Legal, Compliance, HR, A&D and Treasury to ensure the due diligence is completed in a timely manner and approval for liquidation is granted.
- Post due diligence, conduct remediation to remove impediments to liquidation. This may include transfer/sale of assets, termination of contracts, employee termination/transfer, payment of liabilities, resolution of tax and legal matters.
- Work with Supply and Legal Compliance to engage new vendors or extend contracts with existing vendors in each country.
- Pursuant to Our Requirements, prepare a memo seeking necessary approvals/endorsements to liquidate each entity. The memo will outline background, financials, structure, due diligence process, consultations, next steps and recommendation.
- Understand and manage the liquidation process across the different jurisdictions.
- Monitor progress on multiple entities and report on current status.
- Oversee and or/participate in other governance activities supporting external reporting.

Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Accounting and or Finance with at least 10 years working experience in Finance with a large corporate or professional services firm
- Internationally recognized qualifications in Accounting or Finance including accounting body certification (eg CA, CPA)

Experience and Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge and experience in SAP preferred
- Prior experience in liquidations/restructuring (members voluntary liquidation experience preferred)
- Knowledge of members voluntary liquidation process in key jurisdictions – Australia, UK, USA,
- Superior communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and cross functional teams
- Leadership skills in global multi-cultural environments and proven ability to lead

Languages:
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
