- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
- Inspects work and confers with weld inspector to maintain specified standards and quality of welds.
- Reviews and provides comments on weld procedures.
- Ensures that company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures and consistently adhered to.
- Conduct welder qualification tests in accordance to and applicable codes
- Develop and or modify existing Work Instructions for Welders using all known best practices
- Audit technical aspects of production welding operation to maintain and improve quality and efficiency standards; pinpoint and solve problems.
- Improve existing or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures
- Establish recommendations for improved welder performance and follow through and manage projects for performance improvement with employee
- Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre-and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, and welding of critical joints
- Evaluate new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes
- Will perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials
- Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance and stoop, reach on a regular basis.
- In depth knowledge of welding and cutting processes.
- Knowledge of welding different metal types
- Experience welding in the construction, fabrication, manufacturing and/or pipe industries.
- Experience in setting up and operating multiple types of welding equipment.
- Experience with MIG, TIG
- Ability to work as a team member as well as team leader.
- Time management and organization skills with strong attention to detail/follow-up
