Job Description
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to handle our company's procurement activities. The Purchasing Manager's responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, sourcing for feed raw materials, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.
To be successful as a Purchasing Manager you should be able to manage and optimise purchasing activities and processes. An outstanding Purchasing Manager should have excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
Develops, leads and executes purchasing strategies for trading of animal feed raw materials at best deal for both international and regional trade effectively.
Manages supplier relations, crafts negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
Forecasts price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
Coordinates with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
Responsible to ensure all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
Performs cost estimates, cost and scenario analysis and manages budgets.
Develops and implements improvements to existing purchasing processes and delivery systems
Maintains the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
Update the management with market trend and price of the raw materials on regular basis.?
Other responsibilities as the management deems necessary.
Job Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Logistic/Transportation, Business Studies/Administration/Management or equivalent.
Proven working experience of min 6 years in purchasing related field with at least 3 years of experience in managerial role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Sound knowledge of the commodity trading market, strategies, policies and regulations. Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures.
Familiarity with sourcing and supplier management. Interest in market dynamics along with business sense.
Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to build and maintain cohesive teamwork and collaboration among own team and other departments as well.
Good planning and organisational skills and a knack for negotiation and networking.
