Description: The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a full time individual to provide research study support for an NIH funded study focused on dissecting hippocampal circuits underlying contextual discrimination and antidepressant response. The position requires highly organized person to perform complex experiments and manage detailed information in a research environment. The Research Assistant will assist with research study procedures, including breeding of transgenic mice, survival surgeries, behavioral training, histology and high resolution imaging in awake behaving mice. They will also perform some administrative duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1- Assist in breeding and genotyping of transgenic mice to maintain mouse colony
2- Perform survival mouse surgeries to express neural activity indicators.
3- Perform survival mouse surgeries to implant imaging windows.
4- Perform histology on experimental mouse brains.
5- Assist in head-fixed behavioral training .
6- Assist in high resolution imaging in awake behaving mice.
7- Help ordering and organizing reagents for the lab
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Biology, Neuroscience or related field. Minimum of 1 year research experience in Neuroscience required.
Preferred Qualifications:Research experience in mouse colony maintenance, behavioral procedures and histology is preferred.
