TheCancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Research Unitis dedicated to advancing the understanding of the patient's immune system and harnessing its potential to fight cancer.
Our multidisciplinary team specializes in a wide range of immunological research techniques, including target identification and validation, as well as the development and execution ofin vitroandin vivoimmunological assays.
We have successfully developed a cancer vaccine targetinghead and neck cancerand are actively expanding our research portfolio to address cancers that are prevalent across Asia.
Through innovative science and collaborative efforts, we aim to develop transformative immunotherapies that improve patient outcomes and contribute to the global fight against cancer.
SUMMARY
The Research Assistant will be working within the team to drive the development of immunotherapy for the cancers that are common in Asia.
The researcher will be responsible for testing and developing vaccine candidates and validating the vaccine candidates using bothin vitroandin vivomodels.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and perform experiments that are necessary to meet direct project goals.
Ensure that the research projects meet the defined objectives in time.
Assist in planning and delivery of high-quality research programs to enhance the Foundation's reputation for excellence in research.
Assist in ensuring the financial sustainability of the research program.
Assist in the supervision of others undertaking original research leading to high quality publications.
Assist in the delivery of established technical research services that generate income and improve access to new technologies to Malaysian researchers.
Responsible for equipment maintenance, purchasing and stocking consumables, preparing reports for publication and grant organizations, establishing safety standards and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Other responsibilities include:
To deputize for the Head of Department/Deputy Head of Department when appropriate.
To represent the team and Cancer Research Malaysia when appropriate.
To undertake other administrative tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educated to bachelor's degree level (BSc), with relevant experience in immunology.
Experience and skills in immunology and molecular biology is a strong advantage.
Experience and skills in cancer immunotherapy will be a strong advantage.
Experience and skills in animal handling is essential.
Possess a valid driving license and own a car or motorcycle.
Able to be a pro-active member of the team and multitask.
