The Risks & Controls team works across 1LoD business units and provides management with an informed opinion on the effectiveness of controls they operate to mitigate material risks.
The Risks & Controls Team is a global function responsible to:
Execute the Enterprise Operations Risk Management (EORM) Framework limited to specific programs in order to determine and report an independent point of view of the "Operational Risk Profile", and escalate issues as required.
Challenge the business on their understanding of the risks and adequacy of the controls, inclusive of proactive risk management.
Review and provide assurance that the Operational Risk management practices in the respective businesses are effective, meet CACEIS's enterprise level requirements, and are followed consistently across the business.
Consult and advise on the design of risk management practices within the Business to effectively identify and mitigate operational risks.
Perform root cause deep dive on Operational Risk Events, identify process and control gaps, validate action plan proposal for risk mitigation and action plan governance.
Govern the 1LOD framework of process review and control testing to ensure the team delivers the mandate in line with quality and timeline, challenge and identify area of improvement on assessment quality and verifying the appropriateness of action plans to be in line with Group's direction.
In addition to the above, this role will be responsible to drive data analytics from the capacity of Risks & Controls by retrieving various data sources and analyzing the data using statistical techniques to find opportunities for process optimizations, process efficiency, cost savings and risk reduction.

What will you do?
Promote risk culture and ensure the 1st line of defense has an appropriate control risk approach to support identification and management decision.
Provide oversight and advisory function in managing the day to day Risk and Control aspect of Operations, including technical support in process improvements plan and execution of global/local projects and initiatives.
Optimize and align best practices across Operations Malaysia.
Draft and perform independent control testing, reviewing and challenging the risk and control framework and practices in Operations.
Conduct end to end process review to address the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Support Operations in managing audit, risk and compliance for any query, review and ensure no slippage of all open action plans.
Support reduction of Operational Risk Events through root cause deep dive, identifying process deficiencies and control failures.
Ensure appropriate risk and control monitoring programs are efficient and in place in mitigating risks; implement testing protocols across locations covered as required by the Operational Risk Practices to ensure policies, procedures, and controls are designed adequately and executed effectively in order to reduce the residual risk in line with the risk appetite of CACEIS.
Monitor and track each incident for timely reporting and closure of open action plans.
Data Analytics & Management Insights:
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Locate and recommend area of improvement on productivity, accuracy, and timeliness.
Responsible to ensure high quality and timely Management Insight (MI) reporting that enables informed business decision making.
Develop reports for executive management on both recurring and as-needed basis.
Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Relevant university degree preferably finance or business related.
Relevant risk qualification preferred but not essential.
Preferably minimum of 6 years' experience in the financial industry; or comprehensive business knowledge – structure, processes, procedures and technology.
Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate results and recommendations to senior management in a concise manner.
Executing Operational Risk Framework, Risk & Control Self Assessments, thematic reviews, control testing, risk reporting, event and root cause analysis.
Superior interpersonal and networking skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across jurisdictional, functional and cultural boundaries.
