Job DescriptionThe Sr. Data Engineer role is responsible for the management and delivery of data across the enterprise as part of the Global Data Management Platforms & Technologies team.
We're seeking a candidate that is constantly challenging the status quo and seeking out innovation in an ever-evolving BI environment.
ResponsibilitiesCORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Full life cycle experience (requirements gathering through production deployment) in all aspects modern data warehousing, ETL, ELT, data modeling, analytics and BI.
Execution & Deployment:Design and develop or modify & performance tune data loads via ETL / ELT processes to the data warehouse.
Operational Management:Leverage technology to collaborate & build rapport with fellow engineers that are based in the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Mexico & across the USA.
Execute project plans to successfully meet objectives, assist in data loads support activities, issue tracking, escalation and resolution.
QualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS
1.
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in a related field.
2.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
5+ years IT experience.
5+ years industry experience as a data engineer or related specialty (e.g., software engineer/developer, business intelligence developer, data science engineer) with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
3+ years of experience in scripting and optimizing advanced Oracle SQL & PL/SQL.
2+ years of experience in Snowflake, Relevant certifications in Snowflake or cloud platforms.
2+ years of experience with ETL tools; Proficiency with ETL tools such as IDMC / IICS, ODI, SSIS, Informatica (IDMC / IICS and ODI preferred).
Strong experience with UNIX/Linux scripts.
Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Python, R, Scala.
Cloud platforms: Exposure with Cloud data solutions, architecture, and their interdependencies for BI & analytic use.
Experience with Microsoft Azure & Snowflake DW is a plus.
Hands-on experience or good knowledge to build data sources for Tableau.
Preferred:
Experience in Snowflake and Oracle, Relevant certifications in Snowflake or cloud platforms.
Experience in cloud-based data platforms and technologies.
Understanding of Star schema data warehouse modeling using the Kimball Methodology.
Experience in statistical, predictive modeling and machine learning techniques.
Personal Attributes:
Work with cross-functional teams for the most impactful BI, data warehousing and data science projects.
Skilled at identifying a vaguely defined problem and reaching clarity by building alignment within the relevant teams.
Strong communication skills to understand the problems of, and provide solutions to, both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Exceptional ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly.
Ability to facilitate meetings and follow up with resulting action items.
Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment, and to lead and influence cross-organizationally with and without direct authority.
