Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Digital Business Services & Global Functions Compliance Manager.
The roleholder is responsible for ensuring that HSBC's operations in Digital Business Services and the Global Functions in HSBC Malaysia, including HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, HSBC (Malaysia) Trustee Berhad, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Offshore Banking Unit, Labuan and HSBC Corporate Advisory (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating Regulatory Compliance risks and ensuring timely advice is provided to Digital Business Services and the Global Functions.
Principal Responsibilities: Primarily to support Digital Business Services and the Global Functions, to maintain an effective control framework and to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws and regulations, internal codes and practices and good market practices. Articulate the Regulatory Compliance risks for Digital Business Services and the Global Functions Malaysia. Provide advisory services to Digital Business Services and the Global Functions in order to ensure clear understanding of compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions and products as well as outsourcing and data transfer initiatives. Manage the relationship with relevant regulators on behalf of Digital Business Services and the Global Functions. Be responsible for second line governance of Regulatory Compliance risks exposures, providing analysis, reporting and governance to DBS and the Global Functions that is independent of the first line of defence, thereby maintaining an objective assessment of risk exposure. Exercise risk steward challenge, act as independent trusted advisory in governance forums, issue management, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with risk owners and control owners. Assist the senior management of Digital Business Services and the Global Functions, the leadership of the Compliance function, and other colleagues on all material compliance related matters. Represent the Compliance agenda up to the highest levels of the Group's governance, including being an attendee (as required) at relevant governance Committees within Digital Business Services and the Global Functions, to report on progress and issues in relation to the operational effectiveness of HSBC's policies, processes, systems and controls in countering Regulatory Compliance risks. Lead the Digital Business Services and the Global Functions Compliance team, establishing guiding principles and strategic operational objectives, ensuring that the teams are fit for purpose and effective. Drive coordination, implementation and execution of the various entity-level Regulatory Compliance programmes and policies in Malaysia. Qualifications
Requirements:
Experience; Significant risk, compliance or regulatory experience across business lines or functions, or with experience in HSBC predominant business lines or functions. Significant experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management at HSBC and senior external contacts. Significant experience of HSBC Group structure, its business and personnel and a strong understanding of HSBC's corporate culture.
Expertise; Deep understanding of: Regulators and their agenda / approach Regulations as applicable to the bank HSBC organisation and governance structures; Design and coordination of processes; and Stakeholder management.
Skills; Outstanding leadership skills and ability to manage people effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to project authority, negotiate effectively and influence others. Excellent time and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple outputs simultaneously. Ability to work in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment. Strong analytical skills. Outstanding commercial acumen. Ability to distil complex regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.
Qualifications;
Typically, qualifications would include an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field, or a legal or accounting professional qualification.
