A Senior Operations Manager job has just become available at one of the most respected manufacturing and production firms based in Penang. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this is a role for senior managers who can manage a large team in medical products manufacturing and engineering and driving continuous improvement in overall operations.

About the Senior Operations Manager Role:
Due to excellent results and future expansion plans, the Senior Operations Manager will play a key role in the engineering and operations team continued development and success.

Key Responsibilities:

- Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management
- Assess the adequacy of data gathering methods utilised by the other stakeholders
- Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant
- Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes that are “best in field”
- Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority
- Establish new measurement systems if/where possible
- Exchange knowledge and information with other company facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the organisation
- Ensure 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. health and safety, quality)
- Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately
- Encourage team members to maintain an in-depth field of experience and knowledge regarding emerging electronic, manufacturing and materials management technologies
- Ensure the company is an industry leader in developing and adapting effective advanced systems and methods
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
- Define, develop and implement a strategy, which contributes to the corporate strategic directions
- Provide regular updates to Functional and Corporate Operations Manager on the execution of the strategy
- Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems)
- Utilise tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value The successful candidate must possess a minimum of 10 years experience in operations and engineering team management with the capability to manage stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or above in any engineering field with a master’s degree is an added advantage
- Ability to read, analyse, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardisation exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of company’s software packages
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Lean and 6 Sigma knowledge
- Fluent English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing environment
- Demonstrated success in implementing Lean methodology for continuous improvement
- Good communication skills for interaction with all departments both inside and outside of the company.
- Analytical mindset and good at planning, can-do attitude under pressure
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- New product introduction experience
