Senior Packaging Engineer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Independently evaluates and manages assigned projects through planning,organizing coordinating projects assigned to them, to assure required deadlines are met. Reviewing, recommending, testing and assisting in the implementation of various proposals for package design. This is done through obtaining and communicating necessary information with Plant Engineering, marketing, Product Development, processing, etc.; generating information; and contacting various suppliers for estimates, suggestions, or information; test package systems in laboratory, pilot plant, and production facilities. Maintain packaging specifications. Provide packaging Bill of Materials to plants. Provide finished goods specifications for entering into SAP. Update PCM with nessesary packaging information. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the developments and trends in packaging for possible application with Hershey Foods present and future products. This is done through reviewing trade journals, participating in professional societies; attending trade shows and seminars; and conulting suppliers and visiting their facilities. Work with buyers and other team member to implement and apply to Hershey Foods quality processes. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Packaging Engineering Degree or equivalent (10 year experience) Minimum 6 Years Packaging Engineering project work. 4 years experience in Packaging Engineering in Consumer Foods Industry. Strong understanding of other team members duties and responsibilities. Ability to communicate (oral and written). Mechanical aptitude and ability. Able to work with people. Understanding of basic package theory and principles. Self motivation and initative. Basic sound understanding of how project teams function. Organizational and project management skills.
