Social Sustainability Manager – Malaysia Reporting To: Director of Sustainability, Malaysia Primary Focus: The position is described as Sustainability Manager – Community & Social Impact, Malaysia focused on strategic delivery of all community and social impact programs in Malaysia in support of our Development, Investment Management and Construction Business. The role will ensure the key Business operations including major development projects and assets are meeting the social impact aspects of the Lendlease Sustainability Framework. The role will also be aligned to ensuring Lendlease meets it’s target to create $250M of social value by 2025. The Malaysia role will be broadly balanced between the following areas: Work with the Sustainability Director, Malaysia to contribute to and ensure successful delivery of all stakeholder engagement, community development, external partnerships, and Foundation initiatives in Malaysia. Serve as the stakeholder engagement and community development subject matter expert (SME) across Businesses, Assets and Major Projects in Malaysia supporting operations and teams to drive consistency and improvements in performance and sharing knowledge, Lendlease systems/processes and lessons learnt. Identify and lead initiatives, including external partnerships, in the Malaysia Business that promote best practice, thought leadership and innovation in community development. Build working relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure social aspects of sustainability are adequately identified and embedded within all project bids are appropriately supported with regards to sustainability. Accountabilities: Key Results Areas Contribute to and implement Malaysia Sustainability Strategy to ensure successful communication, implementation, and achievement of environmental targets/ commitments. Lead the development and implementation of social impact strategies on Major Projects in Malaysia, including the identification and delivery of leading/ showcase examples of best practice. Act as the community and social impact SME and/or work closely with such individuals to understand best practice across industry peers, leaders, investors, clients, and customers to develop leading thinking/positioning on emerging issues and trends such as: Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in preparation and implementation of Stakeholder Engagement strategies for projects and assets in Malaysia together with the Corporate Communications and Risk teams. Community Development: Impact investing, community development opportunity assessment and implementation, leading initiatives, and external partnerships. LL Foundation – Assist in delivering internal programs for LL employees focused on Health & Wellbeing, Community Day and associated events requiring local Business involvement. Support value creation offering and bid differentiation by positioning social sustainability in key strategic bids, major projects and investment decision-making and utilising key internal and external resources, networks, and knowledge. Administration / Work Organisation Oversight and accountability for in Country implementation and maintenance of any social sustainability data and performance tools and systems including Footprint.. Support key Lendlease external relationships and partnerships in Malaysia to extract value, monitor best practice, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities for Lendlease to capitalise on. Project manage any targeted community management resources, research or technical support to the Businesses or Major Projects. Team Meetings / Communications Be an active participant and contributor within the Malaysia Sustainability Team and Regional Sustainability network. Participate in key in Country leadership meetings associated with Major Projects and/or Bids representing social sustainability where required. Support communication of approved Sustainability strategy and communications from Region and Country where required. Self-Development Further training in change management if/ when needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Qualifications – Desirable and Essential Tertiary Qualifications in a Social/Science, Community Development, Not-for-Profit and/or Sustainability related field. Experience –Desirable and Essential At least 6 years’ experience in leveraging social sustainability/social impact research, resourcing and skills across an existing Business or Country operations and/or new business opportunities. Experience in managing strategic initiatives that has involved influencing and engaging cross functional and cross Businesses stakeholders. Technical Project management skills. Managing technical scope, budget, teams and social impact deliverables on key initiatives and or projects. Measurement Metrics. Act as a connection and/or source of knowledge or guidance on risks, opportunity, and trending in community investments, social grants and NGO partnerships. Monitoring and Reporting. Contribute to Regional Sustainability reporting to internal (Board/Global Leadership Team Papers and external reporting obligations (Integrated Report, UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRESB People Is customer focused, takes a hands-on approach and committed to developing, implementing, and supporting social sustainability in the Businesses and Major Projects. Business focused, identifying, and connecting sustainability opportunities with the commercial needs and external profile of the Business both within operations and new bids. Proven verbal and written communication skills in articulating a business case (both financial and non-financial) associated with key sustainability initiatives to key internal and external stakeholders. Interpersonal ability, particularly skills in change management, stakeholder engagement and building capability in an organisation.
