Position SummaryThe VS Supervisor leads a team and is expected to work well with the employees they supervise, functioning without a lot of supervision while reporting important events or problems to their manager.
The VS Supervisor understands the expectations of higher management and how to meet or exceed these goals.
They are responsible for motivating production staff by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Organizes and controls all activities for the smooth running of the production floor to achieve the desired level of quality as per assigned standards.
Works directly alongside Team Leaders and employees to accomplish tasks.
Collaborates closely with the demand planning department in production planning, scheduling, and execution.
Identifies non-conformities in the production floor and proposes improvements.
Resolves production problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions.
Follows up on planning and implementation of preventive maintenance.
Plans tools and spares requirements for production needs.
Controls all material usage and sets up waste in the production floor, supporting CIPS, MUV, and LUV indicators.
Develops process improvement activities.
Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points, and ensuring personnel and resources are effectively allocated.
Ensures workstations are well-kept and that the work environment is safe and clean by ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Promotes quality initiatives such as TPS, 5S, Poka-Yoke, TPM, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement activities.
Ensures periodic training of subordinates for efficient resource utilization.
Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, and budgetary and personnel requirements.
Informs relevant personnel in the event of major problems such as prolonged overtime, rejects, or industrial unrest.
Maintains staff morale by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, and developing personal growth opportunities.
Education / Experience RequirementsQualification:Bachelor Degree or above in Engineering or Science.
Experience:Minimum 2 years working experience in a related field, preferably in plastic extrusion, blow molding, injection molding, or production.
Experience in directing and supervising production personnel is required.
Specialized Skills / Other RequirementsOther Competencies/ Skills:Able to carry out training skills in new product development; possess technical knowledge and be adept at all phases of the manufacturing processes; strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; ability to lead and drive continuous improvement; comprehensive knowledge with good communication skills and understanding of human relations skills, interpersonal skills, and team building processes; able to work a flexible schedule.
