We are currently seeking an experienced professional to take on the role of Assistant Manager Finance.
Role Purpose
This is one of the core desk in Finance-Operations, Accounting and Controls. Responsibilities include:
- Managing the period-end closing process of HBMY, its subsidiary bank, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad and related companies. In addition to the routine processes, scope includes implementing regional updates, ensure Shariah terminology compliance and changes required for new business or products.
- Managing the Bank’s balance sheet and Finance system controls and exceptions monitoring, investigation, escalation and clearance.
- Constantly reviewing and improving operational efficiency through simplification and automation of processes while ensure appropriate level of controls surrounding those processes.
Principal Responsibilities
- Monitoring and managing the period-end closing process to support Group fast close requirement.
- Providing advice and guidance to all business lines/ functions on the process and requirements in accordance to IFRS and MFRS accounting standards and/ or Group and local policy.
- Monitoring and managing the performance of the group finance system, which includes data maintenance and operation of Group/ local financial systems, system enhancement and implementation, complying with Group standard and IFRS.
- Coordinating, supporting and collaborating with local, regional and Group Finance on Finance system enhancements to deliver Group/ IFRS/ local regulatory requirement from accounting controls perspective.
- Identifying and developing the digitalisation solutions in Finance system as well as implementing measures to streamline Finance operational processes.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to addressing complex operational and accounting issues encountered to resolve financial controls and balance sheet exceptions.
- Reviewing new product proposals and highlighting/ provide solutions on accounting requirements.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- A qualified accountant with 3 years’ experience working in a financial control environment.
- A good understanding and appreciation of banking products, international accounting standards and accounting practices.
- Strong independent contributor who is comfortable working in a self-directed mode.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Good IT knowledge to develop digitalisation solution for streamlining processes.
- Possess strong analytical ability to understand and address requirements from Business or regulators impacting Finance.
- Possess leadership capabilities in navigating, aspiring, driving and mobilising the team in line with HSBC values of open, connected and dependable.
- Self-motivated and independent.
