**General Information**:- Date Published- 28-Aug-2023- Advertising Ends- 28-Sep-2023- Country- Malaysia- Location- Malaysia- Role Type- Accounting & Commercial- Work Type- Permanent- ID#- 5997**Position Description**:**Role Purpose**:The Assistant Manager - Tax & Compliance is a Malaysia-based tax compliance role, reports directly to the Financial Controller but has a direct working relationship with the Group Tax & Customs team based in Auckland, New Zealand who provides leadership, governance, and direction to Fonterra's worldwide trading activities in respect of compliance with all tax & customs regulatory requirements.In addition to tax compliance, this position is also responsible for ensuring business compliance with regards to transfer pricing, anti-profiteering, Capex capitalization, Internal and external audit, and Group regulatory compliance (GRC).The Assistant Manager - Tax & Compliance's key roles are to:(a) Assist the Financial Controller in managing Malaysia's tax and customs regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are complied within a timely and accurate manner.(b) Work closely with the Financial Controller & Group Tax and Customs to ensure that the Fonterra Group's Tax & Customs standards and policies are applied in accordance with Fonterra's policies and procedures.(c) Implement a continuous improvement framework for end-to-end compliance processes.**Key Accountabilities**:**Tax compliance and reporting**- Compile, maintain and communicate tax policies, internal guidelines and processes including updates.- Provide guidelines and support to the business where risk areas are identified.- Provide analysis and ensure timely submission of monthly direct and indirect tax returns.- Ensure all taxes (direct & indirect) are paid accurately and in a timely manner.**Process Improvement, Efficiency and Governance**- Ensure the credibility of the results maintained in the General Ledger used for internal and external reporting purposes by streamlining processes, improving controls and ensuring an adequate audit trail supported by automated systems.- Reduce output time of deliverables to ensure timely data for decision-making by stakeholders.- Maintain company tax models required for reporting purposes.- Assist and advise with tax-related issues and perform special projects as and when required.- Assist with various tax planning activities and research including estimated tax forecasts and other projects that involve a high degree of complexity.- Assist with projects on new and existing tax requirements and areas of weaknesses identified and execute system changes and processes to ensure compliance.***CAPEX Management**- Prepare fixed assets capitalization form for Group Account approval- Ensuring the Asset ledger is kept up to date and accurate, including loading assets additions and disposal**Internal Control**- Assist the Financial Controller to undertake price movement review to ensure compliance with the Anti-Profiteering Act.- Assist the Financial Controller on the GRC process.- Assist the Financial Controller in meeting requirements for transfer pricing, anti-profiteering and internal & external audit compliance.**Stakeholder Relationship Building, Networking and Management**- Educate all business stakeholders, where necessary, to ensure tax legislation is complied with and tax requirements met in a timely manner.- Respond to queries and educate all stakeholders in respect of tax legislation requirements.- Assist and execute deliverables where required for liaison with tax authorities, auditors and external parties as and when required.**Skills & Experience**:- University graduate majoring in finance & accounting, preferably in tax.- Minimum 3 - 5 years of tax experience in the FMCG or Retail environment.- Experienced in Malaysian Tax Laws (direct & indirect).- Demonstrates good commercial understanding, analysis and result-focus- Good interpersonal and communication skills**Our Story**Fonterra is a global nutrition company owned by 10,000 farming families in New Zealand.
