RESPONSIBILITIES:

- As Lead Content Engineering and Workflow Automation Developer, you'll rely on your cloud-centric software coding skills, result-oriented mindset and abilities to design and maintain broadcast content processing automation, middleware and cloud-hosted components & services as Astro continuously improves its operations while progressively migrating to cloud services.
- You will develop and deploy software automation solutions that work in conjunction with 3rd party systems, in-house developed systems and native cloud services to alleviate manual tasks as well as manage and grow your team of Content Engineering Developers and Workflow Integration specialists.
- As Lead Workflow Automation Developer your objectives are to provide robust end-to-end automation across our cloud and on-premise environments serving our internal clients in Content Management, Quality Assurance, Compliance and Broadcast Engineering teams as well as provide hands-on tier-three support escalation and business continuity.
- You will define best practices for your team and supporting staff as a lead DevOps manager working closely with internal stakeholders to devise, develop, and support cutting edge broadcast technology solutions.
- Help us envision the next cloud-based iteration of our broadcast and streaming infrastructure in this exciting opportunity to shape the future of South East Asia’s best-in-class and most diverse Satellite TV and VOD/OTT streaming platforms.
- Lead key software development initiatives of the Broadcast Technology department creating broadcast content processing automation middleware both in the cloud and on-premise:
- design and setup automation between business components to eliminate redundancy and reduce content processing turnaround-time and cost
- plan and execute cloud migration projects of existing systems and their data exchange points
- drive initiatives to increase the knowledge base of your Development team, Systems Integration team and Internal Support staff
- Set team objectives
- monitor your team’s performance
- provide feedback and mentoring to ensure that team members grow technically and professionally
- Determine KPIs and develop reports to track metrics within your team
- Define and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices both for your team and supporting staff (testing, benchmarking, escalation, support, kpi fulfilment, documentation, communication and disaster recovery etc.)
- Build positive working relationships with internal clients in Content Management, Compliance, Broadcast, and Engineering teams to gain full understanding of their work methods and constraints
- Analyse business needs presented by Executive Leadership and actively contribute to our technical roadmap based on your strong knowledge of our internal clients in order to recommend impactful technical solutions
- Own the management of your project budgets in corroboration with department-wide budgeting includingdriving your project proposalstendersagreement negotiationsterms of serviceexpense trackingpurchasingproduct acceptanceoverall vendor relationships.
- Other technical duties as assigned by Sr department management
- Some travel may be required Hands-On Support: As development lead, perform tier-three support duties on a punctual basis including:

- escalation support for Content, Quality Assurance, Playout, and Media Management teams
- Define end-to-end support framework of your team’s automation components and cloud environments by providing standard operating procedures and best practice guidelines for troubleshooting, escalation severity, change management, handovers and reference material documentation
- Act as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for Content, QA, Media Management and Transmission teams using systems governed by your automation and hosted in your cloud environments
- Participate in the department's efforts to investigate cloud service anomalies or on-premise system malfunctions
- Coordinate department-wide maintenance and house-keeping efforts impacting systems and media volumes on-prem and cloud-based
- 24x7 availability to respond to crisis recovery events REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Education, Work Experience
Essential

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field
- Five-Seven years’ experience in software development as lead
- Strong knowledge and wide spread of programming languages relevant to cloud-development (min 4x not limited to following:)PythonJava (XML)NodeJSErlangSQLPHPHTMLRegExGFMGoR LanguageRubyC#Clojure
- In-depth knowledge and experience in IP technology of on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure principles:router & switch configurationtraceroute, ping, nmap, etc.Linux and Windows server administrationExcellent knowledge of core AWS services including account provisioning and management (S3, EC2, Elemental, Glacier, RDS, Lambda, ELB, EFS, Cloudfront, Cloudwatch, Direct Connect, etc).
- Ability to be on-call 24-hours to provide support for tier-three escalation issues Desirable / Preferred

- AWS/Azure/Google certification(s) architect & cloud-native developer
- Understanding of Video/Audio compression technologies
- Strong knowledge of video encoding systems and standardsAWS – Elemental, Media Convert services, BitmovinTelestream, Rhozet Harmonic hardware transcoders/encodersVideo file containers and standards:XDCAM, IMX-30, H.264, HEVC, HLS, RTMP, TS, ATS, IMF etc.
- Management and troubleshooting automation between content processing and media management systems: video transcoding, metadata database, audio processors, editing stations (Adobe Premiere), MAM, on-air scheduling, Playout etc. Setup and configuration of file-based workflow systems. P RACTICAL SKILLS AND / OR ABILITIES

- Project management tools: JIRA and Confluence
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (fluent English req.) Desirable / Preferred
