Position Summary
The Production/Assembly Technician performs assembly and testing of Bruker handheld and portable analytical instruments and sub-assemblies in accordance with documented procedures, work instructions, and specifications. The successful candidate has a good understanding of equipment and processes related to assembly of electromechanical devices.
Responsibilities
- Assembles, tests and configures manufactured analytical instruments and sub-assemblies.
- Assembles and/or installs various electrical or electronic components where operation and sequence are specified by blueprints, wire lists, diagrams or previously established shop practices.
- Use of small hand tools such soldering irons, wire strippers, tweezers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers.
- Soldering surface mount and through-hole components.
- Assembly of printed circuit boards into electro-mechanical sub assemblies.
- Mechanical assembly of plastics housings and cables.
- Work in accordance with internal and regulatory safety requirements
- Rework and/or incorporate engineering changes in all instrument accessories. Qualifications
Education and Experience
- 2 year degree in electronics or mechanical technology or equivalent
- Experience in the assembly and testing of handheld scientific measurement devices.
- Minimum of 1 year related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in using common electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, and power supply
- Able to read and interpret schematic, mechanical, and assembly drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot electronics to the component level.
- Proven ability in thru-hole and surface mount soldering.
- Working knowledge in use of standard glues and adhesives.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills in English (both verbally and written).
- Self motivated while flexible and able to work well with others and as a team.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced, high-tech environment.
- Attention to detail and concern for a high standard of quality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills (data input and information look up).
