Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will coordinate efforts to ensure Bruker portable analytical instruments are manufactured to Bruker’s high standards of quality and performance. You will evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Bruker’s portable products and collaborate with design engineers to determine manufacturing and product specifications.

The Manufacturing Engineer will contribute to product and manufacturing process design, as well as the methods for verification and validation of product to ensure compliance to internal and customer requirements.You will work towards the prevention and/or resolution of product and manufacturing process non-conformance and will be the primary quality interface for new and existing products.

As a manufacturing engineer in a fast-paced production team, you will be responsible for using your creativity and engineering experience to develop and evaluate solutions to challenging engineering problems.The manufacturing engineer supportsnew product introduction (NPI) and released products to lead process improvements. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of equipment and processes related to electro-mechanical product design and manufacture.

Responsibilities

- Drive continuous improvement, using methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Support manufactured products for end of life components, evaluate and implement substitutes and/or design modifications to enable continuous production.
- Apply small design changes and adaptations to the existing products as needed when changes are required to implement substitute parts and components due to end of life.
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Determine root causes and recommend changes in designs and manufacturing and testing methods.
- Design testing methods and test finished products to establish standards or validate process requirements, develop and maintain test fixtures.
- Working on the cross-functional team for new product development from concept to volume production. Define product requirements related to design for manufacturing, test, reliability and service.
- Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or testing procedures.
- Work with operations management to implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing.
- Help to track supplier quality and contribute to timely resolution of supplier corrective actions.
- Participate in the validation and implementation of the engineering changes.
- Conduct first article inspections and incoming and receiving inspection for PCB/A’s, electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Maintain manufacturing bill of material (BOM) and manufacturing engineering documentation. Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent, preferably in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or mechanical engineering. Experience

- Minimum 2 years of comparable production experience, with manufacturing engineering experience.
- Experience in a similar type of analytical instrumentation preferred, device manufacturing that includes mechanical, electronic, and software components. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Good knowledge of product manufacturing processes, fabrication, testing, processes and shop measurements.
- Proficient in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action programs.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Fluent in written and spoken English, good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office, SAP and Solidworks PDM experience preferred.
- Basic electrical design or mechanical design experience.
- Work independently, strong team player, detail oriented, organized and hands-on.
- International travel may be required ~6 weeks per year. Actual travel duration and frequency will depend on project requirements.
- Lean and Six Sigma Certification desired.
- Knowledgeable in continuous improvement, safety improvements, use of KPI metrics, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiments.
