We have a vast and ever-evolving portfolio of brands primed to play an important part in everything from modernizing infrastructure around the world to enabling the next generation of electric and autonomous vehicles.We are currently looking for a Chemist to join us at our facility in Shah Alam-Powder, Malaysia**Key responsibilities**:- Assist the Senior Chemist to evaluate new material to be utilized.- Ensure that the new formulations developed have commercial value.- Develop new products at low cost. Performing the right formulation to achieve product quality that is in accordance with customer needs.- Continuously improving so that the work processes in the department that he/she leads are better, more efficient, more productive, faster, and safer.- Supervise the testing of the standard for the raw material to be used and the formulation of the product to be produced.- To assist Senior Chemist to look for alternatives to new raw materials for the development of more competitive and better quality products.- Conduct studies and experiments to reduce the complexity of the material used and to harmonize it.- Identify potential administrative / operational improvement / improvement of work. processes in the department, including problems / obstacles faced (which can arise),by facilitating, building participation, and developing employee skills to continuously improve work processes.- Setting work targets of the departments/units they lead.- Make operational work plans (action plans) to achieve the work targets that have been determined while preparing a budget plan.- Implement effective leadership to direct and move (coaching and counseling) all the personnel he/she leads in order to work together productively to achieve the stated goals.- Identify training needs and arrange/conduct training for continues improvement in to upgrade skills of all members in the Technology department- Evaluate the need for improvements.- Monitor, and improve the competence of color matcher by reducing number of color matching cycles per sample to drive the efficiency of routine operation as per Lead time targets.- Ensure the implementation of EHS and core values in the work units they lead.- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 procedures.**Key requirements**:- Diploma or bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.- Minimum 3 years' experience in the powder coating/paint industry, especially in the research and laboratory section.- Have in-depth knowledge of powder coating and materials.- Having adequate knowledge of occupational safety and health.- Having the ability to lead and maneuver.- Having the ability to do assessment, problem solving and decision making.- Good presentation skill is a must and be able to deliver some basic training.- Customer and results-oriented and be able to work under pressure.- Must be resourceful, high-energy and be able to work independently.- Good command in English, both in oral and writing skills.Axalta operates its business in two segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings, which serve four end markets, including Refinish, Industrial, Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle, across North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
