About the role Accountability for timely and accurate container operations performance and processing for the Maritime team.

Core
- Accountable for assuring zero compliance, governance or safety incident across the voyages in her/his portfolio
- Demonstrates in depth understanding of safety and environmental considerations for ocean freight transport and acts as a subject matter expert for his peers in the Iron Ore, Coal, Copper and Petroleum scheduling teams.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of and adherence to all relevant guideline documents in order to facilitate meeting BHP governance and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrates passion for delivering superior results; strives to continuously improve processes, systems or services.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills and works with a sense of urgency.
- Good understanding of following Maritime processes, specifically relating to container management:
- Container booking, tracking, invoicing and documentation management with carriers and liners.
- Subject matter expert on operations of multiple container types and managing global container operations.
- Hand on experience operating with a transport management system designed for containers.
- Hand on experience with export and import documentation; specifically related to container documentation and processes and confirming accuracy.
- Support all planning and forecasting processes and provide booking schedules to liners and suppliers.
- Analytics, extracting reports from transport management systems and performance relating to containers.
- Takes a proactive approach to resolving issues on a timely basis with the liners and the business stakeholders
- Inspection processes relating to container pre and post stuffing and contracted rates.

- Good understanding of trade finance flows and requirements.
- Financial reconciliation of voyages, including capturing of all costs, reconciliation, and charge backs to assets including receipt of invoices and processing of payments.
- Dispute resolution management, tracking and escalation including after sales service support for ocean freight related enquiries by liners.

Stakeholders
- Engagement with other specialists and team members of the teams globally to understand the overall progress of voyage management for Maritime as a whole
- Develop and maintain excellent customer service relationships with stakeholders in Supply & Marketing, Minerals and Petroleum, Vessel Owners and Freight teams regarding voyage progress, vessel movement, load and discharge status, cargo documents and optimisation of voyage economics. · Identifies and cultivates internal and external alliances that lead to successful outcomes for the organization and its customers and suppliers; positions the BHP for future success by identifying new opportunities through relationships.

Process
- Leverage technology to improve own and team’s productivity as well as quality of service. Formulates innovative ideas and approaches to processes, systems or services; seeks and implements opportunities to improve, streamline or re-invent work processes; tries different and creative ways to deal with issues and opportunities. Partakes in departmental projects to achieve the desired objectives and delivering on the overall strategy
- Also performs all administrative tasks including but not limited to documentation, ETA updates, invoices and payments for all container and Voyage
- Timely execution of administrative processes with regards to procurement of Freight related services for BHP.

Projects:
Supports the management team in relevant projects when requested.

Safety:
Understands what to look out for in the process and ship’s operations that could indicate risk in relation with ship’s safety.

Cost:
Ability to identify cost savings throughout the operations process, package the opportunity into a project and work with relevant stakeholders to deliver the cost savings.

Coverage:
Ability to identify voyage optimisation opportunities throughout the operations process, package the opportunity into a project and work with relevant stakeholders to deliver the efficiency and effectiveness.
