It's an opportunity to be part of something special.About the role - Occupational Health Physician Looking for a dynamic medical practitioner to lead and/or support EHS programs at site to ensure full compliance with local EHS laws, regulations and HALEON standards, and to effectively facilitate the management of EHS, sustainability, hazards, and risks for the following core competencies / areas:Employee Health (Attendance Management, Substance-Free Workplace, Resilience and Mental Health)Chemical and Physical AgentsErgonomics and Human FactorsEmergency ResponseThe role will be part of EHS function and reports to the Site EHS Lead.Role Responsibilities1) Governance, Policies and RegulationsAdvise Senior Management and site personnel on all aspects of an Occupational Health Physician's core competencies and other Occupational Safety subject matters to ensure compliance with corporate EHS and Engineering standards and local statutory (DOSH, MOH, SOCSO) requirements.Co-ordinate and follow up on matters arising from external audits and inspections carried out by corporate personnel and local authorities.2) Clinical, Case Management and Health Enhancement Deliver the Health Improvement Programme aligned with HALEON strategy and ambitions.Obtain and document patient histories, with an emphasis on occupation, differential diagnosis, and exposure.Identify both occupational and non-occupational factors that may contribute to occupational illness or injury; and lead improvement programmes to address such issues.Diagnose and manage occupational illnesses and injuries, according to accepted guidelines and with the help of consultants in related disciplines when indicated.Identify the need for case-management interventions in cases of sickness absence. Provide medical case management consistent with local regulatory requirements and HALEON policies.Conduct assessments and clinical evaluations or examinations to assess level of impairment and fitness for duty, in compliance with local regulatory requirements.Use and maintain a record-keeping system with emphasis on confidentiality.3) Hazard Recognition, Evaluation, and Health SurveillanceIdentify workplace hazards and their associated health and safety risks. Counsel employees on work-related and non-work-related risk reduction.Characterize existing and potential occupational risks within a defined population or workplace through observing tasks, processes, or activities and by accessing and reviewing appropriate literature, standards, and other resources.Evaluate the health effects of exposures to chemicals (including mixtures), noise, biological agents, radiation, and ergonomic and other workplace hazards.Monitor the work environment through inspections and walkthroughs to identify risks and determine whether controls are properly implemented.Develop, implement, and evaluate health surveillance programmed to identify work-related risks, injuries, and illnesses.Identify and assess work-related and non-work-related sources of stress and organizational resilience.Assist employees and management with minimizing risks from shift work, occupational travel, and other chrono-biological stressors.4) Inspection and AuditConduct regular audits of the employee health management system and inspection of the work environment.Assist in the closure of CAPA arising from the internal and external audits.5) Training and EducationFacilitate the development of site EHS (i.e., Occupational Health) competencies.Provide appropriate training for Staff and Contractors.Such trainings include General EHS awareness, Risk Assessment, Occupational Health topics.6) Investigation & ReportingLead or Support EHS investigations and analysis using 6-step RCA, and maintain the statistics of any accident, near – miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational illness which has happened in the workplace.Basic Qualifications:Education: MBBS / MD or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 3 years' occupational medicine and industrial experience.Experienced and knowledgeable on Industrial hazards, local legislations including DOSH & SOCSO requirements, and the process of incident and illness reporting.Able to diagnose employee's medical complications, provide accurate consultation and medication for recovery. Advice management in related to precautionary measures on any diseases or health hazards.Preferred Qualifications:MBBS / MD and Post Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health (Recognized by DOSH).
