Product Development Manager

**Key job responsibilities**:- Identify the demand, grow the interest, and develop the relationship with targeted group of customers with a goal to satisfy their packaging development requirements- Initiate internal product development, evaluate the substrates and compositions- Plan and control internal research and processing (product development)- Identify and try out different materials and evaluate expected results- Plan and produce the samples and analyse the results- Monitor and take action on analysis of raw material and chemical composition while attaining growing product development result- Identify and choose products from suppliers- Provide planning and status reports (testing and review, chemical mixing formula, raw material composition, time to delivery)- Guide, supervise, and mentor all research and development within the team- Handle research and development activities including to cover in process development (setting machining parameter, specific target / product output, trial before commercialization and mass production)- Ensure timely completion of the initiated projects- Work within the set budgetJob Requirements- Degree in Material Engineering or any related to the flexible packaging- Experiences in converting/designing/ developing products within flexible packaging industry outside of Malaysia- Deep knowledge (product knowledge) of Plastics, Packaging, Laminations, and Technical Films and Foil with strong base of international clients from Middle East, India, Africa, Europe- Min. 6 years' experience in research and development (or lab) for flexible packaging products with the demonstrated levels of performance- Interpersonal skills to guide and motivate product development team.- Strong ability to coordinate and communicate with the team and across other departments.- Capability to work independently (analyse, plan, action, control) with initiative and creativity to ensure desired operational outcome.General Aluminium Works (M) Sdn Bhd is a very established packaging company located in Taiping, Perak with more than 40 years of experience in this industry.
