Job Description

We are looking for someone with strong technical background, excellent leadership skills and strong business acumen to lead the technology development of our logistics platforms. As Product Manager (Technical), your role is to ensure that design requirements are met, overseeing the consistency of user experiences, and managing a team of engineers and developers within the logistics business vertical. You will fit perfectly if you have prior experience in a managerial role, preferably in an eCommerce / Logistics environment. This role will be on a full-time basis and based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You will report directly to the Head of Product.
A DAY IN A LIFE

We are growing our in-house engineering capabilities and we have existing products that have been built from ground up. We are looking at improving development practises and processes to enable scalability of our products.
As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

Understand the inherent problems in the existing ecosystem, the opportunities and propose actionable solutions to address them;

Understand our vision for the product, and help us recruit a team to build the technical product;

Make key systems architecture decisions that allow us to scale;
Architect a new product from scratch, see it being taken to market, and consistently improve the product;

Work closely with Product team to ensure tech development aligns with overall business objectives;

Engage and mentor the engineering team, directly work with software engineers and take up the development of complex components of an application yourself when needed;

Represent the product and the initiative well at trade events, meetups, summits and related public events

SKILLS
These are minimum-requirement skills and a ‘must-have’ for the role:

The set up & management of internal Development Centers.

Quality Assurance of all code output from the Development Centres, i.e. Software Testing.

Selection and definition of the company's software development methodology.
Ensure that proper coding conventions and documentation standards are maintained.

Evaluation and identification of appropriate technology platforms (including web/platform/device application frameworks and the deployment stacks) for delivering the company's services to the customer.

Production of all solutions documentation including (but not limited to): Technical Solution Designs, Wireframes, Interface contracts, Software Architecture diagrams.

Work with the Product Team to ensure that all delivered software meets the functional requirements.
Design, implementation and management of software development processes and tools.

Ensure that all solutions delivered adhere to the industry best practices, including (but not limited to)

Microservices built/deployed where appropriate, Server-less, Only modern programming languages such as node.js, python, angular2, Single page applications where applicable, Containerised, so moveable between clouds, Nosql storage,Dynamic caching

The candidate must be confident enough to recommend COTS solutions to business requirements where he/she feels that it is more appropriate than a custom-coded solution
The candidate must identify opportunities and risks, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success

Mentor and upskill the development and testing teams to ensure that they can evolve as the company pivots towards being technology-driven and technology leaders within the industry.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
10-15 yrs of engineering experience with 5+ years in technical management.

Experience in leading teams and driving transformation.

Deep exposure and understanding of Agile/Lean Methodologies.

Comfortable with reviewing code ensuring code quality of engineers.
Experience with building high performing engineering teams.

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Able to welcome and adapt to change.

Able to define and articulate big-picture goals and milestones while maintaining strong attention to detail to all audiences.
Prior experience in high-availability, high-traffic transactional sites.

Expert in designing, building and managing large scale systems in the cloud.
