Job Description Job Summary The incumbent is accountable providing leadership and direction in the formulation and implementation of strategies for research and development for the purpose of company?s business growth with respect to:
1) Materials Development (Materials Lab & Simulations) & Leadframe & Substrate Design
2) Management of Pilot Line execution for the purpose of delivering fast and accurate prototypes or engineering samples that speeds up customers? time to market timeline for new product
3) Management of Captive Lines Operation
4) Intellectual Properties (Patent) Management

Job Responsibilities
? Lead the Materials Team to :
Establish & execute Roadmaps that is in accordance to the needs of each Business Unit and new technology in a systematic manner
Work with suppliers, Universities or Development Consortiums on upcoming materials in development
Be the company?s subject matter expert in terms of materials properties, behavior & test methodologies
Inculcate In Depth Materials Technical Knowledge among the Factory?s engineering team through knowledge sharing platforms ie bi-annual technology newsletter, suppliers technology sharing, white paper etc
? Lead the Pilot Line Team towards flawless execution of customer samples and qualification builds ie meeting customer time to market timeline with no ?low tech? related issues
? Lead the Operation team in Captive lines towards continuous cost down activities in support of P&L.
? Manage and ensure :
- compliance to existing patent procedures and Hong Leong patent policy
- protection of Carsem?s innovative technology thru new patent applications , trademarks & renewal of existing patents (thru Patent Committee)
- establish value criteria for each new patent application and renewal (thru Patent Committee)
? Lead, motivate and develop subordinate to achieve work excellence.
? Identify training and development requirements for all levels of employees.
? Identify and evaluate appropriate training and development programs as per defined training and development requirements.
? Comply with requirements of quality management system of identified quality certification bodies.
? Keep abreast of latest Technologies and advancement in semiconductor industry.
? Any other duties assigned by immediate superior.
Job Requirements
? Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor?s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Microelectronics with minimum of 10 years relevant working experience in R&D management
? Sound knowledge and experience in manufacturing process in semiconductor industry.
? Sound knowledge and experience in strategic planning and execution, technical networking and industry linkages up to date.
? Project management skills and, customer & supplier relationship management skill and leadership skills.
