What we're doing

You will be part of the Data Services squad responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining our data services backend to empower consumer and customer experiences in a collaborative team environment. The Senior Data Engineer is part of a cross functional agile team consisting of Product managers, data engineers, data scientists and designers and fellow developers.
The Senior Data Engineer supports the Data Engineering Development team in the following ways:
+ Designing, coding, testing and deploying quality data applications to meet the needs of our products
+ Maintaining existing data products and services, including bug fixes and “Business As Usual” feature enhancements
+ Supporting and maintain applications in production environment with minimal downtime – **you build it, you run it!**
+ Data Architect, Modelling, ETL and Scheduling of Data pipelines
+ Data Streaming Solution Development on Cloud
+ Automation and Integration of third-party systems
+ Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users
+ Contributing to and leading the implementation of major features
+ Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to less experience team members
+ Providing technical and functional support to stakeholders
+ Actively participate in daily stand-up meetings, sprint and release planning, reviews, retrospectives, demos and other Scrum-related meetings
+ Carry out code reviews and continuously improves software source codes
+ Take ownership of the code, make it the best it can be
+ Continuously research for process improvements and new applications
+ Closely work with Tech Leads and developers to continuously improve the development, architecture and operations aspect of the systems health
**Who we’re looking for**
+ 5+ years of work experience in Software Application development
+ Advanced skills in two or more of programming languages – Python, Java, JavaScript, Scala
+ Strong knowledge in product backend development using open source languages, data application development frameworks and libraries, such as Flasks, Apache Spark, Kafka
+ Always open to learning new development methods, technologies and programming languages
+ Proficient in working across the tech and data stack
+ Skilled in designing of high-performance dynamic data products and services, that scale to millions of users
+ Solid understanding of RESTful API and JSON; experience with GraphQL is a bonus
+ Advance skills in modern software development techniques such as, test driven development, micro-services architecture.
+ Experience in writing clean code and refactoring techniques, Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD)
+ Strong Knowledge in SQL and NoSQL databases
+ Advanced skills in building full stack web products using open source and cloud technologies. Familiar with Cloud Computing services (GCP & AWS) and associated technologies.
+ Knowledge in SOLR and/or AWS ElasticSearch technologies is a bonus
+ Worked in Agile or Scrum based environment before
+ Experience with development tools such as Git, Jira, Trello etc.
+ Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and can lead user interface design and implementation in a collaborative team environment and across multiple teams where required
+ Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, strong communications skills, problem-solving skills
