A leading renewable energy firm is recruiting for a Solar PV Design Manager job to lead all electrical design, installation, project management and commissioning of commercial rooftop solar projects across Malaysia. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
About the Solar PV Design Manager Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for the full design and specifications of all electrical aspects for the construction of solar power plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with clients from initial tender through to project sign off, attending meetings and leading technical clarifications
Produce cost plans and pre-tender estimates and cost comparisons for solar systems
Supervise and coordinate the work of other engineers, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
Electrical engineering of PV planning, execution phase, technical consulting
Lead the team of electrical engineers and coordination of all relevant issues regarding the engineering of large-scale projects and interfacing with defined project shareholders, technical advisors, and sub-suppliers
Conduct the processing, preparation, and review of the electrical system design and cost estimation of large-scale projects
Construction management in electrical, commissioning, analysis of faults, technical review of yield reports, and quality matters for large scale projects
Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and regulatory safety, standards, practices, and codes
Select and specify both suppliers and components to meet project needs
Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities
Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering and solar industry
Take charge of engineering optimisation and improvisation of engineering standards in the organisation to ensure compliance with the relevant standards and regulations
To succeed in this Solar PV Design Manager role, you must have prior experience in electrical design of solar PV systems.
Key Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field of study
Minimum of eight years of working experience in electrical design of solar PV systems and products
SEDA Malaysia Certified Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) Systems Design Competency is required
Prior experience with solar PV system design, inverters, wiring, grounding, utility interface and performance monitoring
Technically proficient in the field of photovoltaic conversion, direct current circuits, and protection designs with a working knowledge of solar PV system modelling
Five years of distribution and reticulation exposure within a project environment
Experience with semiconductor technology is highly desired
Familiarity with international Standards for solar PV systems, and other relevant standards
Prior experience handling electrical design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of power plants is ideal
Exposure to energy modelling, CAD Software and High Voltage Networks and Sub-Stations
Solid general knowledge of computer technology and proficiency in 2D and 3D modelling software such as Solid-works, PV System, and AutoCAD
Prior experience handling solar power plant projects is highly preferable, and experience in leading electrical teams on solar power plant projects is an added advantage
Have a strong passion for renewable energy and want to ensure a positive future for the environment
Ability to demonstrate experience of managing client projects from inception to completion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid planning and organisation skills
