About the role

We seek highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as a Specialist Legal. Reporting to the Manager Legal, the Specialist is primarily responsible for providing strategic legal advice support to BHP’s global Legal team as part of the new Legal Services Team in BHP’s Shared Services Centre in Malaysia.

Core Accountabilities
- Assisting with standing up the new Legal Services Team including development of governance processes and sustainable engagement model.

- Providing strategic legal advice and support to BHP’s global Legal team and business stakeholders, including advice on commercial contracting, key areas of law, updating BHP’s standard contract suite, assisting with discovery processes, developing standardized documentation to upskill the business on legal issues and supporting knowledge management.

- In this role, there will be very frequent interactions with members of the Legal team globally, including senior leaders, across the globe. This will require establishing and maintaining relationships with the Legal team.

About You

Experience and Technical Competencies
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years work experience in a top tier law firm, corporate legal department, LPO or shared services center.
- You will have experience in working common law or other international jurisdictions and has a good commercial contracting experience.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent education required

Languages
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
- Spanish skills would be an added advantage
