If you are looking to excel and make a difference, take a closer look at us…Job Purpose SummaryProvide the secretariat function to the Shariah committee (SC) as well as the administrative and managerial support to the SC. In addition, carry out the Shariah research function to support the Bank's business and strategic plan.Among the main functions are:Manage end-to-end SC meeting process and engagement session with the Board of Directors (BOD), Senior Management and other relevant business/support units (BU/SU).Manage end-to-end SC assessment and performance evaluation on yearly basis, including reviewing the Assessment Form.Manage end-to-end process of appointment, reappointment and cessation of SC members.Review Shariah and business papers/proposals from relevant stakeholders and BU/SU prior to submission to SC.Review internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines and standards related to the Shariah Secretariat to ensure compliance with Shariah, internal as well as regulatory requirements.Identify the Shariah research area to be conducted based on the business and strategy plan of the institution as well as conduct, comprehensively study and/or review on the identified Shariah research areas and gain input from SC and relevant BU/SU.Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesFunctional :Administrative and secretarial support for Shariah Committee (SC) including meeting and engagement coordination.Manage end-to-end SC meeting process and engagement session with the Board of Directors (BOD), Senior Management and other relevant business/support units (BU/SU).Manage end-to-end SC assessment and performance evaluation on yearly basis, including reviewing the Assessment Form.Manage end-to-end process of appointment, reappointment and cessation of SC members.Conduct profiling of SC to identify the training need area to be upskilled and enhanced.Manage the record, compilation and summary of the SC's decisions and resolutions for escalation.Review Shariah and business papers/proposals from relevant stakeholders and BU/SU prior to submission to SC.Draft and submit papers (Shariah research plan, SC Development Plan, SC Succession Plan, SC Report, SC Resolution, annual review of Shariah Secretariat-related policies and SOPs) to SC.Draft and submit papers (SC appointment/reappointment, SC annual assessment, SC Fit & Proper assessment, SC remuneration package, Shariah Governance updates) to the BOD.Review internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines and standards related to the Shariah Secretariat to ensure compliance with Shariah, internal as well as regulatory requirements.Identify the Shariah research area to be conducted based on the business and strategy plan of the institution as well as conduct, comprehensively study and/or review on the identified Shariah research areas and gain input from SC and relevant BU/SU.Identify the training need area for the institution's employee.Review the training material and module prepared by training provider to ensure the contents are updated and relevant.Liaison officer for regulatory matters dealing with external parties including Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).Managerial (team/group responsibilities)Manage and provide oversight on the Shariah Secretariat & Research unit to ensure the tasks assigned are carried out smoothly.Provide guidance and support to the team on ongoing basis to ensure the team is equipped with necessary tools and knowledge to discharge the functions efficiently.Provide guidance and support to Islamic GT and/or Protégé attached under the Shariah Department to ensure adequate on-job learning in relation to the function of the unit.Organizational (organizational responsibilities)Discharge the unit's functions to ensure the Bank complies with the regulatory/legal requirements set by the BNM, Securities Commission etc.Support the Head of Shariah in preparation to the Management Committee, RCGC-i, SC, BARMC and BOD Meeting.Ensure adequate awareness on Shariah and Islamic banking to the bank-wide employee to ascertain the employee is equipped with the necessary knowledge that will lead to the Bank's business and activities to be in compliance with Shariah at all time.Jobholder RequirementsEducation/QualificationBachelor's Degree in LawsBachelor's Degree in Laws (Shariah)Experience7 years' experienceCertification/Licensing RequirementsCertified Shariah Advisor (CSA) is an added advantageOther necessary professional certification is an added advantageSpecial Skills Effective minutes writing skills.Ability to conduct in-depth Shariah research.
