Company attorneys also complete innovative deals and help shape the development of cutting-edge insurance products.About the roleWhat you need to know:The Assistant General Counsel will assist the Head of Legal on the following matters:- Handling and follow-up on general corporate and commercial matters- Draft and review legal documents and policies as and when requested by internal clients- Provide legal advice/opinions to internal clients- Draft/review of policy contracts, marketing materials, telemarketing scripts and related documents- Assist in the resolution of contract related issues and problems;- Attend and conduct meetings or discussions with other divisions in relation to any legal issues, legal documents or policies- Conduct negotiation with external parties to protect company's legal interests and to ensure compliance of contracts with related laws, regulations and internal company policies.- Conduct research and keep updated on the latest development of relevant laws and insurance regulations- Maintain and update records of all documentation handled by the legal department- Correspondence with internal and external parties and maintaining documentary record- Assist with documentation relating to company's corporate governance & liaising with external Company Secretary- General administration of legal departmentWhat we're looking for:- Possess the Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized university and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitors of the High Court of Malaya- 5 years working experience in a legal firm as an Advocate or an in-house counsel of a corporation- Have an experience in drafting and vetting of corporate agreements and providing legal opinions and advice- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills- Resourceful, result-oriented and responsible- Meticulous and able to work independently with minimum supervision- Able to work well in a team and possess pleasant personalityWe are an Equal Opportunity EmployerIt has been and will continue to be the policy of American International Group, Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
