You will be based in a McKinsey office in Asia and will report to the Director of Conflicts. You will be part of McKinsey's Risk and Compliance function, whose mission is to enable McKinsey's client impact and innovation, while managing risks to the firm, our clients, and our people. The function is an integrated global team, with backgrounds including communications, consulting, diplomacy, government, government affairs, and law.You will manage a team of conflicts professionals located in different time zones and hemispheres.  You will have responsibility for overseeing the team's work and ensuring that new conflicts requests are processed efficiently, expeditiously, and to the highest quality. You will serve as an escalation point, including collaboration with senior Client Service Risk colleagues on any engagements requiring higher-level reviews, and to brief findings and convey judgments to partners and other senior colleagues.You will be expected to mentor and develop our conflicts professionals and perform semi-annual and yearly evaluations of team members. You will also be actively involved in hiring new conflicts professionals and growing the team in various time zones and hemispheres based on coverage needs with a particular focus on the timely processing of conflicts requests. You will ensure that tasks are prioritized as needed and assigned according to experience and on a follow the sun basis. As a Conflicts Manager, you will play an important role in evolving and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm's conflict of interest processes in a globally consistent way, while also supporting efforts to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, firm policies, systems and processes. You will likewise have the people skills necessary to train and develop more junior colleagues, and the experience and drive to support or lead conflicts or compliance initiatives, including policy and procedural refinements and workstreams to continually improve the firm's capabilities. You will also undertake any additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Conflicts.5+ years' experience in conflicts clearance and business intake within accounting, financial services, or legal sectors; prior experience of aging processes highly advantageousProven track record of developing and mentoring colleagues; prior experience of people management highly advantageousHighly knowledgeable of all applicable regulations associated with conflicts of interestHigh level appreciation for best practices associated with intake and conflict of interest related tasksExcellent problem-solving and analytic skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills and excellent listening skills and ability to quickly get up to speed on the firm's policies and procedures relating to conflicts of interestAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize and balance competing, time-urgent demandsDeep experience of conflicts of interest systems and an aptitude for mastering risk-related data sets and technology solutionsExperience (work or research) in multiple geographies is importantOutstanding English written and oral communicationHighly collaborative attitude, and the interest and aptitude for working as part of a diverse and dispersed global teamStrong personal presence and credibility with the ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counselor relationships in a highly matrixed environmentStrong personal resilience, including comfort and credibility in challenging discussions with senior colleagues, balancing robustness, persistence, flexibility, humility and tactExperience undertaking complex research independently and efficiently using a range of web-based sources and using Internet search strategiesComfort with, and preferably advanced knowledge of, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); aptitude for involvement in database design, including web-enabled, a plusAcademic credentials that include a strong undergraduate degree and demonstrable intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impactOccasional travel required, and must have the ability to work across several time zones as needed
