Database Engineer

Our client is a reputable financial institution. They are actively hiring a Database Engineer to be part of an expanding team to support the department in planning, organising, implementing and managing the company's database services.

About the Role

In this business-critical role, you are expected to

- Liaise with relevant IT teams to ensure the system is restored at the shortest time possible to diagnose the problem and institute corrective measures
- Provide technical consultation services to IT teams with regards to design, architecture and operations of new/existing database systems
- Manage the formulation and implementation strategies/plans of the database system while ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of the systems/infrastructure
- Evaluate, recommend, research and development of database software technology, standards, upgrade paths and technology improvement plans
- Monitor all aspects of capacity planning, performance monitoring and analyse resource utilization; and to recommend upgrades or changes to the existing system
- Manage database services availability, performance, events and alerts for preventative maintenance, fine-tuning and troubleshooting
- Maintain and manage installation and configuration standards, guidelines and procedures while considering security requirements

Requirements

- Bachelors' or diploma holder in Computer Science or relevant IT discipline(s)
- Minimum 8 years' work experience in providing database support services
- Hands-on experience in Oracle, DB2 (LUW), MS SQL or Sybase RDMS
- Professional certifications on Oracle (OCP), DB2, Ms SQL or MySQL is an added advantage
- Strong knowledge on ETL, Database Design and Data Warehousing preferred
