Join our Network ASEAN team at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and help us continue building a significant impact on sustainability reporting practices within the ASEAN region. Network ASEAN oversees GRI's work in the region, including the Sustainability Innovation Lab (SIL), by working closely with reporting organizations, capital markets, intermediaries, governments, civil society, and other stakeholders to provide support in the ESG disclosures in the region. Network ASEAN is active in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. SIL is dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions through innovation, research, and collaboration. Our mission is to provide end-to-end support for corporates in their sustainable transformation journey. As part of our commitment to knowledge dissemination and capacity building, we are now seeking an Innovation, Research, and Development (IRD) Manager to lead our efforts in identifying, translating, and deploying cutting-edge sustainability research projects into scalable solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization, fostering collaboration with partners, and promoting the adoption of sustainable innovations. As the IRD Manager, you will help advance the mission of SIL by generating insights, building knowledge, and empowering SMEs to adopt sustainable practices. The role will also involve contributing to other research themes of SIL as needed. You will report to the Director of NetworkASEAN based in Singapore and work closely with the other members of the Network ASEAN team. Job Responsibilities Research Management: • Proactively identify and assess research opportunities aligned with the organization's sustainability goals and objectives. • Manage research projects, including defining research objectives, timelines, and resource allocation. • Collaborate with internal teams and external experts to evaluate the feasibility and impact of potential research projects. Translation of Research into learning modules and training programs: • Lead the translation of research findings into practical, scalable solutions that address sustainability challenges. • Work closely with project teams to ensure successful implementation and integration of solutions into real-world settings. • Translate research insights into practical and engaging training modules tailored to the needs of SMEs in Southeast Asia. • Develop curriculum outlines, learning objectives, content frameworks, and instructional materials for training programs. • Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and multimedia specialists to create interactive and multimedia-rich training experiences. Policy Analysis: • Monitor and analyze local, national, and international policies related to sustainability reporting in Southeast Asia and other jurisdictions. • Assess the impact of existing policies and propose recommendations for improvements or new policy development. • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify emerging policy issues and provide expert guidance. • Communicate policy findings and implications effectively to internal teams, external partners, and decision-makers. Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement: • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with the private sector, government agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, industry leaders, and NGOs. • Collaborate with partners to leverage resources, share expertise, and accelerate the development and deployment of sustainable solutions. • Engage with SMEs, industry associations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to understand their training needs and priorities. • Solicit feedback and input from stakeholders to ensure that training modules are relevant, impactful, and actionable. • Build relationships and partnerships with organizations and institutions involved in sustainability education and capacity building. Budget Management: • Manage budgets associated with research and development projects. • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize the impact of initiatives. Key Competencies / Requirements Degree in a relevant field such as public policy, sustainability, business innovation, environment, social sciences, economics, or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years of experience in research management, policy analysis, managing innovation, and development projects or a similar role. Demonstrated experience in conducting research on sustainability topics, preferably with a focus on SMEs or Southeast Asia. Strong analytical skills and expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods. Proficiency in using research tools, statistical software, and data visualization platforms. Knowledge of policy development processes and the ability to assess the impact of policies. Strong understanding of sustainable business practices, environmental management, and social impact assessment. Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and training program delivery. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including academia, industry, and NGOs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences Comfortable working remotely and in a dynamic and fast-changing environment. High-level fluency in written and spoken English. Proficient in working with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and CRM.
