JOB PURPOSE: To provide an efficient and effective learning and development service, working with the HR Senior Manager to ensure that this supports organizational objectives and values. Assist and provide support and necessary training to Beacon’s employees. Help them acquire new skills and learn professional development. In addition to this, also assess and determine the potential areas for growth and progression. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Organisational Learning and Development • Lead on, in conjunction with the HR Senior manager, successful design, delivery and commissioning of centrally-run learning and development, ensuring that this supports organisational objectives and values • Responsible for the design and management of the annual organisational learning and development plan, including training needs analysis of appraisal data, organisational work-plans and strategies • Evaluate centrally-run learning and development activities to ensure transfer of learning and impact on individual, team and organisational performance • Work closely with all departments to identify and deliver learning requirements and solutions that are/can be shared across the organisation, including a new e-learning platform • Work with and share information and ideas with trainers, in particular to identify and take forward any opportunities for collaboration in all aspects of learning and development • Management Development: lead on, in conjunction with the HR Senior manager, the design, commissioning and delivery of the organisational management development programme • HR training for managers: responsible for design and delivery of a programme of regular learning activities to increase managers’ understanding and skills in carrying out key HR and employee relations processes • Induction: Responsible for designing, managing and evaluating the HR department’s induction for all new employees and managers, and evaluating and contributing to the design of the organisation’s wider induction programme. • Maintain up to date knowledge of best practice in learning and development and provide advice on selection of learning and development activities, ensuring a good organisational fit Policy and Organisational Development • Work with and support the Senior manager of Human Resources to ensure that Beacon’s values, positive culture and overall objectives are reinforced through learning and development and Organisational Development interventions • Carry out research into best Learning and Development practice and draft briefings, reports, guidance and policies as directed by the Senior manager of Human Resources. • Work with and support the Director of Human Resources and other HR employees on L & D and OD policy development and projects Management & Team-working • Work closely and collaborate with the HR Business Partner (HR Operations) in particular in delegating any L & D work to the wider HR team Leadership • Leads the Clinical Instructors in administering and maintaining standards in the form of accurate assessment, management, infection control practices and documentation thru supervising, instructing, demonstrating, teaching and coaching with required knowledge and skills • Represent standards at all times in order to work effectively and cohesively with doctors(s) and other multi-disciplinary healthcare team members together with the nurse manager and Clinical Instructors to ensure consistent and effective delivery of nursing care. • Report to the HR senior manager any required relevant change in any department standards including knowledge and skills in line with new practice or improved practices to uphold the Beacon services for best patient outcome. • Assist managers in reviewing and improving department goals and objectives • Establish interdepartmental flow of communication amongst all department services and education for improvement of behavioral and clinical competency through education and training. • Evaluate and review input or ideas generated by all staff to improve quality of care and to allocate relevant resources for such improvement. • Work with head of departments or various committees to identify relevant or mandatory training and development opportunities to enhance desirable implementation of Beacon standards to promote best outcomes for patients. Quality Improvement & Risk management • Lead and implement competency structured learning, OJT for clinical and non-clinical staff in accordance to the policy and practices of the hospital. • Assist in formation of standard operating procedures, work flows and working instruction in line with teaching and education guidelines. • Enforce department Standard Operating Procedures and policies and achieve quality objectives and targets. • Perform knowledge and clinical practices audit as a method of evaluation, periodically utilizing competency check list, standard operating procedures or work instructions and collaborate with department heads on audit outcomes. • Assist the new staff nurses in adaption to new environment, skills and practices through preceptorship; provide timely and ongoing feedback to the trained nurse and reporting head whilst serving as a nurse role model consistent for practice and growth of the trained nurse. • Support evidence-based nursing consistent with supporting, questioning, advising and integrating practice and growth with clinical inquiry and reflective practice. • Initiate corrective actions to address operational risks when possible and advice risk prevention strategies to the relevant department head for further action. • Ensure the use of medical equipment and medical consumables are in a cost saving manner. • Participate on evaluation of products or equipment’s with vendors with departmental heads. • Have monthly Interdepartmental meetings to address issues and discuss flows on improvement of services Customer Service • Collaborate with other support departments to improve and enhance interdepartmental workflows and operational effectiveness • Acts as a liaison nurse to uphold nursing practices and provide clarity and information to address concerns raised by management, stake holders and patients or family members. Resources Planning & Management • Plan, implement and evaluate schedule of department(s) assigned on its monitoring and supervisory needs of new and existing trained nurses based on departmental intensity or acuity level. o Identify trained nurses of role model value and seniority for supervision or o preceptorship of new trained nurses with department heads to ensure continuity of assessment and evaluation to maintain nursing standards. Professional Development • Participate actively in learning and development programs identified company to acquire additional knowledge and skills. • Participate quality assurance or quality improvement projects and research-based initiation relevant to the hospital or department including quality key indicators set by the Ministry of Health. • Ensure attendance of continuing nursing education programs (CNE) and achieve CPD points. • Attend mandatory training as required. General • To carry out the responsibilities of the post with due regard to the Beacon's Diversity Policy and to treat colleagues and other Beacon stakeholders with respect and dignity at all times. • Your principal duties and key responsibilities will be those set out above.
