**JOB POSITION: PET CARE ATTENDANT**Pet care attendants look after the day-to-day care of pets, in a variety of different settings, under supervision. At Diana Cat Studio, the specialization is cats.Pet care attendants have more direct contact with the cats than any other person within the organization. It is, therefore, a very important role in the welfare of cats, and a job only for those who genuinely love cats and are passionate.**IMPORTANT CRITERIA TO PASS THE INTERVIEW**- Cutting cat's nails precisely with no injury to the cat's nails.- Cleaning cat's ear thoroughly with no dirt left at all and no injury to the cat's ears.- Handling cats firmly, in gentle and calm manner.**SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES NEEDED**- Be physically very active and fit.- Have a high level of patience.- Be able to handle cats firmly but gently.- Have the ability to manage time effectively.- Have empathy with both cats and people.- Enjoy working without a fan or air conditioner (while grooming, in order not to make the cat cold and not to make the parasites on the shaved hair fly around the area).- Have excellent communication skills with both colleagues and customers.- Have a good awareness of health and safety within the workplace.- Have the ability to work on their own as well as part of a team.- Be confident dealing with a range of different cat temperaments.- Have good administration skills.- Have excellent observation skills.**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**There are no set academic requirements or certifications to become a pet care attendant. A genuine concern and real enthusiasm for the welfare of cats is essential, together with a willingness to learn about cat care. Here, training is provided during the probation period.**THE JOB AND WHAT'S INVOLVED**The tasks are varied and may include:- Grooming animals with a suitable package, making sure they are at least 99% clean and stress-less during the process.- Cleaning out and disinfecting the living, playing, and sleeping areas and all their accessories including litter box and toys.- Preparing food, including any special diets needed, and feeding the animals.- Taking cats to the playroom for playtime and monitoring them during playtime.- Checking for signs of illness or distress in the animals.- Look after the cats and call the vet if needed.- Giving cats medicine or tablets and treating them for fleas or parasites.- Take cat photos and/or videos to be updated to their parents and to be uploaded on social media for the purpose of marketing and educating.- Giving updates to parents regarding their cat's doing during boarding and grooming.- Advising owners or customers on animal care with the right knowledge to help them, not merely for sales.- Showing cats available for adoption to possible new owners.- Maintaining and monitoring animal records, taking bookings, dealing with payments, and handling enquiries.- Answering questions and queries from visitors.**SALARY AND REWARDS**The starting salary of Pet Care Assistant typically RM1500 in Malaysia. Here, the basic salary starts from RM1600 and can be up to RM2400 depending on the performer's working attitude, skills, personal qualities, and overall performance.
